I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! It’s a wonderful time to be a missionary in Napoli. We were very well taken care of this week by the branch members. As Christmas Eve was approaching, my companion and I decided to make chocolate chip cookies for people in the branch that could use some extra love this holiday season. We made over 80 cookies and spent all of Christmas Eve delivering them to people all over Napoli. On Christmas Day we were invited over to Sam (our branch mission leader) and Lori’s house for an American Christmas meal. She had a ham, potatoes, vegetables, and yeast rolls for us! It was awesome. Then the day after Christmas we were invited the Ariante’s home to have a big meal with them too. I’ve never felt so full! It was a great way to spend the holiday and I feel so grateful to be here.
This week we made some serious progress with a long time investigator and close friend Mario. He is a very kind man who loves us missionaries. For some reason this week he called us asking to meet because he had some questions about our beliefs after he did some research on the Internet. Well we weren’t very sure how productive of a meeting this was going to be but since he is a close friend we went along with it. What I thought was going to be a hard lesson full of arguing of doctrinal differences in churches was actually a wonderful conversation and he had a lot of interest. We met with him one more time last week and talked about how the Book of Mormon can answer questions that we have if we simply read and pray. He promised he would read before the next time we met!
Other than that I don’t think I have anything else other than to wish you all a VERY Happy New Year!!!! I hope 2016 brings more hope, joy, and blessings than 2015 and may we all become better than we were before.
I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
