This past week has been awesome! Let me start from the beginning. We had been trying to go over to Sorella M’s house to give her a blessing because she has the flu since last Sunday. It just didn’t seem to be working out. Sunday couldn’t do it, Monday she was busy, Tuesday we were busy, finally on Wednesday we had it all planned to come over at 12:30 and we were set. That morning we received a call from Luigi (Miracle #1) our new convert who basically fell off the face of the earth for a while there and he invited us to come over for lunch and talk. This was amazing to hear from him but now it was necessary to move our appointment with Sorella M up to the morning.
Luckily she was available and so over to her house we went. While we were there talking Noemi walks by (Miracle #2)!!! Now Noemi has been an investigator for a long time but she hasn’t returned or answered our phone calls for weeks so we were just about to give up on pursuing her for a while when out of nowhere she shows up and we get to teach her a lesson right then and there! It went incredibly well and we set a new baptism date with her! So that was an awesome day.
Then on Saturday, Anziano Coe and I were putting up English course posters all around Piazza Nazionale. We get a call from the other Napoli Anziani (Naples Elders) saying that there is a member at the church who they had let in to the church to clean that now wants to leave so we need to go lock up the church. Luckily we were close by so we went and did it. As were walking up there was an English course student just waiting outside the church (Miracle #3)! Her name is Anna and she is the sweetest elderly lady. She said that she really really enjoyed the spiritual thought that Anziano Rosenberg and I did on Thursday after English course on how we need to be willing to trust in the Will of God for our lives and how every trial we face is to help us to grow. She said she wanted a Book of Mormon and she would like to meet sometime! We are going to try to teach her as much as we can for the next few weeks before she heads back to Venice where she lives and we can contact the Milan missionaries there and give them an awesome referral!
Sunday was great too! I’m starting to understand more and more so I feel a lot better throughout church and it’s just more enjoyable. The members here are awesome and so nice! I feel so lucky being in Napoli!
This week I started into the book of Alma in the Book of Mormon. If I could meet anyone in the Book of Mormon it would be Alma. I just love his conversion story and how great he became. Anyway, in Alma 4 it talks about how Alma leaves the he judgement seat to become a full time missionary and in verse 19 it says, “And this he did that he himself might go forth among his people, or among the people of Nephi, that he might preach the word of God unto them, to stir them up in remembrance of their duty, and that he might pull down, by the word of God, all the pride and craftiness and all the contentions which were among his people, seeing no way that he might reclaim them save it were in bearing down in pure testimony against them.”
I love how even someone as great as Alma saw the only way to bring people to the gospel was through pure testimony. That is so inspiring as a missionary. I love the Book of Mormon and I love being a missionary.
I love you all and I pray for you everyday! Keep doing great things!
