Alright this week was another good one for the books! Not everything went perfect but I’m so happy with the results we saw this week from all of our hard work. So we have an investigator Noemi who is making awesome progress. We had a lesson with her this week on the plan of salvation and she loved it! She also came to church!!!! I really think if we put our all into this and stay in contact with her, always trying to build her up and remember the incredible blessings awaiting her after baptism than nothing will stop it from happening. She has a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon and I just love whenever we get to meet with her.
Mario hit quite a roadblock this week which is sad to see because I love him so much. He won’t allow himself to ask Heavenly Father specifically if this is the true church of Jesus Christ. Since he isn’t willing to make further progress and try to know for himself we are going to let him be for a while and try to support him through other means. It’s hard as a missionary when you know your investigators are so close to receiving answers for themselves but they won’t do it. We always love them though and it’s more important for us that they receive a knowledge of the truth of what we share for themselves rather than us pushing them into it.
Anyway, the rest of this week was great too. We met with some less actives. We had lunch at our branch president’s house. We had branch council which was an absolute zoo but hilarious for us missionaries.
Our English course grew even more this week! We’re close to tripling it since the beginning of December which is a massive feat. On a side note my companion and I found TWO pizzerias that are super close to our apartment, they are cheap, and they are SO good! It was an awesome accomplishment. Okay back to missionary stuff. I love the branch here in Napoli. It’s full of imperfect people trying their best to live the right way and stay true to the things they hold most dear. There are few allstar families that are really inspiring to see because they love each other so much and are always involved. In Italy this is really unique. I’m grateful to be here in Napoli and I love going out everyday and serving as many people as I can!
Something from my studies this week that struck me was in Alma 13:13, “And now, my brethren, I would that ye should humble yourselves before God, and bring forth fruit meet for repentance, that ye may also enter into that rest.”
I love how Alma makes specific mention of humbling ourselves and bringing forth fruit that is conducive to the act of repentance.
Repentance is such a misunderstood concept! It’s a gift. It’s the opportunity for us to change and for the Lord to enable us to be more successful in that change. When it says to “bring forth fruit meet for repentance” it’s saying that we should ready ourselves through our actions, our thoughts, and our desires to be able to receive this power from Heavenly Father to be able to change more fully and permanently. I am thankful for repentance. I use it everyday as a missionary to become a better teacher, a better finder, and a better child of God in general. I am grateful for the help we can receive if we demonstrate to our Savior that we really do want to be better and follow Him. I know all of us can receive this divine assistance as often as we are willing to ask for it.
Have an awesome week!
