So we were expecting transfer calls this past Saturday but alas they have not come. Why, you ask? Because apparently there was some miscommunication between the MTC and the mission office and now we have missionaries going home this week (SHOUT OUT to Anziano Palazzo!!) but we don’t get our new missionaries in until next week!
So yeah should be interesting for those companionships with missionaries going home. We’re not affected here in Ascoli. As for my prediction I’m about as close to 100% that I’m staying in Ascoli as I can get, this due to the impression I took from our Mission President this past week.
Oh speaking of that! We had zone conference this week and it was awesome. Con: waking up at 4am for a 5:30am 3 1/2 bus ride and then taking that same 3 1/2 hour bus back at 6pm.
Speaking of cake this woman in our branch (Sorella Tedosi, she is basically the mom of the branch) made me a cake/pie/pastry thing for my birthday! It was super good.
This week was full of ups and downs! A huge up was having 26+ people at our English course. I don’t remember if I mentioned this or not but my first night in Ascoli we had English course and there was one student and he’s been coming for years. Needless to say I’m very happy with the improvement we are seeing. We didn’t even have enough room for all of them! There were people that had to stand and we had two separate classes! Everyone had a great time though and it was so much fun. A sort of half up and half down was our investigator Nando said he doesn’t want to meet with us for the next two weeks because he wants to read the Book of Mormon all the way through. That sounds awesome and I’m really really excited and hoping that he does do it but it worries me a little bit. If he forgets or gets busy or whatever and doesn’t end up reading it than that would be two weeks of progress down the drain. We are going to try to do our best to subtly stay in as much constant contact as we can with him just to make sure he’s doing okay.
Other than that there weren’t too many other big events.
I have been working my way through the Book of Mormon this past week and I came across a scripture that was first brought to my attention right before I left on my mission and reading it again made me love it even more.
“Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God.” – Helaman 3:35.
There is no way to grow stronger in our faith in Christ unless we are simultaneously growing in our humility. That’s all I need to say about that.
I love you all and I pray for you all!
Have an awesome week!
