So I will be staying here in Ascoli for the next six weeks. I’m excited to really dig in and start getting some even bigger things going in this small city. We had an English course student come to church this Sunday! She is a rockstar and we are looking forward to meeting with her this week. The weather has not been very cooperative with us this week. It’s rained pretty much everyday. One thing about Italians and rain is they don’t like it. And when it is also cold fuhget ’bout it! So our finding techniques had to be altered this week and focused more on house finding which we don’t do very often. I think there’s something slightly more crushing about getting doors closed in your face mid-sentence than there is when someone just passes by you on the street. It was a good lesson and honestly I’m looking forward to doing it more and getting better at it. At least in these situations you know where they live so you can come back and see if they are sure they don’t want to talk 🙂 The highlight of the week was doing a scambio or an exchange in Pescara. In the morning I got to run on the beach of the Adriatic Sea.
That was cool. Then in the morning I got to teach with Anziano Maxwell (the missionary I referenced about 6 weeks ago who I came to this area with on the train). We taught this young woman about 22 years old who is AWESOME. She isn’t sure about her belief in God but she is very open and she is willing to do the things necessary to know for herself like praying. That is all it takes. The lesson was the best experience I have had teaching the restoration on my mission. It was powerful. We had a member there that is awesome. Everything was incredible. I wish I could describe it better. There are those moments in your missionary work that remind you how much you love being a missionary and how worth it is to be serving these two years.
It’s so common to pray for patience, humility, faith, and diligence, but sometimes we miss those small moments throughout the day that could have been an opportunity to develop one of those attributes. So my challenge to all of you is to pray for the ability to develop one Christlike attribute and then pay attention and be ready to recognize the moment that comes for you to exercise that attribute. I promise you will see massive improvements.
I love you all!
