Quite an eventful week I would say! Rome and back twice and miracles along the way. It’s a good time to be a missionary.
We had zone conference on Wednesday and it was awesome seeing everyone, plus Anziano Coe is now the zone leader up here in Rome east! I got to catch up with him and it was really really cool. Zone conference itself was really great too and everyone is really pumped to make May a month of miracles!
Then Thursday we had a lesson with Bruna again. I had known for sometime that she smoked, drank alcohol, and drank coffee and tea. I wasn’t exactly the most comfortable I’ve ever been going in to teach her the Word of Wisdom, which is a revelation from the Lord to the prophet Joseph Smith telling us what is and isn’t good for our bodies.
But I had faith, I trusted that it would all go well. When we introduce the 5 things we do not consume because of the revelation given to us by God, she looked directly at me and said, “If I need to give these things up to be baptized I will do whatever it takes.” I was floored. The faith of some people I meet out here on the mission humbles me beyond measure. The challenges faced day in and day out for weeks on end all fade away when an investigator says something like this. I’m so grateful for her! She’s amazing and has been doing so well.
Then this past weekend we were in Rome again for a stake conference for the Rome east stake. In the midst of this I got to see Anziano Rosenberg again! Needless to say it was like seeing my long lost brother I never had. I love that guy so much. He’s amazing. It was a weekend full of learning and serving and was topped off with getting to see my mom and sister and grandparents. I loved every minute of it.
Something really simple I wanted to share with you all that I came across this very morning that struck me in a way I never thought before. In Preach My Gospel, Chapter 3, Lesson 1: “The Restoration”, there is a section towards the end called Pray to Know the Truth through the Holy Ghost. The very first sentence says, “This message of the Restoration is either true or it is not. We can know that it is true by the Holy Ghost.”
I don’t know why, but for the first time it hit me that there’s only those who know the Restoration is true and that Joseph Smith was a Prophet, and there are those who don’t know the Restoration is true. BUT it is not possible to know that the Restoration is not true. Do you see the difference? Heavenly Father is the source of all truth. When we ask to know the truth of something, in faith, he will manifest it unto us.
I’m grateful that I’m fortunate enough to know the Restoration is true, it really happened! One thing I’m sure of is that God is no respecter of persons. Wherever you are, whatever you believe, whatever you have done, if you really want to know and you’re willing to follow the feelings you receive then God will show you the truth of this message.
I love you all so much!!!! Go out and serve someone else this week.
