Having P-Day on Tuesday caused this week to go by faster than usual, but there was no lack of miracles for anyone here in Campania. Things are happening! It’s awesome to see. I whole heartedly believe it is because of increased attention on obedience and following the Spirit.
Two things that if put together will always bring great things to pass.
Wednesday and Thursday I had a scambio here in Napoli. We turned in some good work and did some solid counseling together to help ourselves improve. Sometimes you have to talk about the hard things to see the results you want.
Thursday we met with two new investigators, which required Anziano Perfili and I doing a split with other missionaries to cover the lessons. Fabiola, who is an older woman and new English course student that we met at the end of last transfer at the ATM. Then Carmine, who was found by the coppia Hyde and is a very sharp young man.
Saturday was an eventful day. In the morning we had two great miracles. First, we went to the metro stop, medaglie d’oro, and started talking to this man sitting by a basketball court which was being used to play soccer by some kids. We struck up a conversation with him and he shared with us a lot of tragedy he has seen in his life and how he is searching and open to finding answers to the purpose of life. We bore simple testimony to him of the great comfort we have in our lives because of the plan of salvation that has been revealed by a modern day prophet and the fact that we can overcome our trials through the enabling grace of our savior. We are excited to be meeting with him this week!
Then on the metro back home I started talking to this woman who had some questions as to why we were dressed so strangely. I explained to her the basics of our beliefs, and she was impressed with how we behaved ourselves and the selfless-service we were rendering in a foreign country for so long. I’m excited to meet her this week too!
This week I put extra effort into reading my patriarchal blessing more often and towards the end of the week I reread the talk by Elder Ballard, “Return and Receive,” from this past general conference. I realized how eternally significant it is for us to develop a mentality of consecration to the Lord. I feel this is something I have come to know in a much clearer way in the last several months. Our willingness to submit to the Lord in all things and at all times enables us to be lifted to heights we never thought possible and accomplish things we never before imagined. I have seen it happen and I know it’s true and it’s not just something for the mission but something forever. We need not doubt. The grace of Christ makes all the difference for our weaknesses.
I love you all,
